Ambassador John Danilovich

Former CEO of the Millennium Challenge Corporation

John J. Danilovich is currently the non-Executive Director of d’Amico International Shipping (DIS), one of the world’s leading privately owned maritime companies, as well as Engyco, an innovative solar power plant company. In 2018, Danilovich stepped down from his role as Secretary General of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). He is a proven CEO with extensive experience in building international alliances to help achieve organizational missions in the international business and political arenas.

Danilovich has focused particularly in Latin American economies, emerging markets in Africa, and the international shipping industry. Danilovich served as Ambassador to Costa Rica between 2001 and 2004 where he successfully led and concluded CAFTA (Central American Free Trade Agreement) negotiations. After a Presidential appointment with unanimous Senate confirmation, he accepted the Ambassadorship of Brazil from 2004 to 2005. After finishing his post in Brazil, he became the CEO of the Millennium Challenge Corporation where he directed strategic planning and the corporate vision of this new U.S. government development agency, with a mission to reduce global poverty through sustainable economic growth.

He is currently a councilmember of the Harvard School of Public Health, on the International Advisory Council of the Harvard AIDS Initiative, an Executive Committee member of The Pilgrims, and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Danilovich is a graduate of Stanford University where he received his B.A. in Political Science in 1972. Consequently, he attained a M.A. from the University of Southern California in International Relations and Economics in 1981. He is a Knight of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, and is married with three children.
